Chikyu Araitai Toreru Powder

This product is not actually made by a British company, but a Japanese one. However, we feel that it is an appropriate addition to the Red Rose Baby range due to its relevance and eco-friendly credentials.

Chikyu Araitai (地球洗い隊) means ‘Earth Cleaning Squad’ in Japanese.
 As the name suggests, they make eco-friendly household products, focusing mainly on detergents that will ‘clean the earth’.

Toreru Powder is a cleaner that is suitable, among many other uses, for soaking and washing cotton nappies and cotton sanitary pads.

It is composed of rice bran, cereal bran and soy pulp with selected microbes and enzymes absorbed into the powder.

However, despite being described as ‘detergent’, the uses of this amazing powder are many and varied.

You can use it to clean everything from your plates and dishes to your toilet and bathroom. You can even use it as a face and body wash or to clean your teeth!!

As it can be used to clean your body, there is of course no need to worry about it harming your hands. It has a pH similar to that of sea water, mildly alkaline, making it gentle on your skin.

Despite this, you will be amazed by how it out-performs other synthetic detergents with its cleaning power.

Not only that, but also the microbes in this detergent, in addition to breaking down the stains and dirt in your house, will also clean your water pipes and the rivers on their way from your plug hole to the sea. This really is a detergent that will ‘clean the earth’ !

     
    This detergent has three aspects that make it so effective:

• The powder cleans with the power of microbes and enzymes.
• The bran polishes away even the most stubborn stains.
• The oil content of the rice bran acts as an effective moisturiser and wax.
  

When soaking cotton nappies and cotton sanitary pads, adding only a teaspoonful of the cleaning powder to the soaking water is enough.
(Those concerned about powder residues can place the powder in commercially available tea leaf bags.)

The enzymes and microbes in the detergent clean away stains gradually, so if any stains remain after soaking for a day, simply leave to soak for one more day.
